Description
Deutsch: Hauptflügel des ehemaligen Gertraudenhospitals bzw. Urbankrankenhauses in der Wartenburgstraße 1-1F in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Das Gebäude wurde 1871-1873 nach Plänen von Friedrich Koch für die St.-Gertraud-Stiftung an der Einmündung der Wartenburgstraße in die Großbeerenstraße erbaut. Ein weiterer, rückwärtiger Flügel entstand 1883-1884, ebenfalls nach Plänen von Koch. 1910-1911 erfolgte ein Umbau durch Fritz Haack. Das ehemalige Krankenhaus wurde in den 2000er-Jahren in eine Wohnanlage mit Apartments der gehobenen Preisklasse umgebaut. Der Komplex ist als Gesamtanlage denkmalgeschützt. Außerdem sind Vorgarten und Ehrenhof der Anlage als Gartendenkmal gelistet.
English: Main wing of the former Gertraud Hospital or Urban Hospital at Wartenburgstraße No. 1-1F in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The main building was constructed from 1871 to 1873 at the corner of Wartenburgstraße and Großbeerenstraße to a design by Friedrich Koch for the St. Gertraud Foundation. Another wing in the rear was added from 1883 to 1884, also to a design by Koch. The complex was reconstructed from 1910 to 1911 by Fritz Haack. In the 2000s, it was transformed into an apartment complex with apartments of the upper price scale. The whole complex has been designated as a cultural heritage monument. The front garden and the main yard are also listed as a historic garden monument.
