Description
Deutsch: Mietshaus Mehringdamm 53 (bis 1946/47 Belle-Alliance-Straße 83) in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Das Haus mit rückwärtigem Gewerbehof wurde 1864 von L. Meyer und A. Plischkowski erbaut. Nach 1906 wurde der Gewerbehof von der neugegründeten Sarotti Schokoladen- und Kakao Industrie AG als Produktionsstätte genutzt. Da sich der Standort trotz Nutzung der benachbarten Gewerbehöfe Mehringdamm 55 (bis 1946/47 Belle-Alliance-Straße 82) und Mehringdamm 57 (bis 1946/47 Belle-Alliance-Straße 81) als zu klein erwies, zog die Firma 1913 nach Tempelhof um. Das Haus Mehringdamm 57 mit Gewerbehof ist Bestandteil des denkmalgeschützten Bauensembles Quartier Riehmers Hofgarten.
English: Residential building Mehringdamm No. 57 (Belle-Alliance-Straße 81 before 1946/1947) in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The house with a small factory court in the rear part of the lot was built in 1864 by L. Meyer and A. Plischkowski. After 1906, the factory buildings were used by the newly founded Sarotti Chocolate and Cacao Industry AG. Although the comapny also used buildings at Mehringdamm No. 55 (Belle-Alliance-Straße 82 before 1946/1947) and Mehringdamm No. 57 (Belle-Alliance-Straße 81 before 1946/1947), the premises soon turned out to be too small for the prospering company. Thus in 1913, Sarotti moved to Tempelhof, now a part of Berlin. The house Mehringdamm 57 and the former factory buildings are part of the protected historic buildings area Quartier Riehmers Hofgarten.
