Description
Deutsch: Das ehemalige Verbandshaus der Deutschen Buchdrucker in der Dudenstraße 10 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Der Komplex wurde 1924-1926 nach Entwürfen von Max Taut, Franz Hoffmann und Karl Bernhard im Stil der Neuen Sachlichkeit erbaut; 1951 erfolgte ein Innenumbau durch Max Taut. Das Vorderhaus enthielt neben Wohnungen und Läden ursprünglich die Geschäftsstelle der Gewerkschaft, im Quergebäude befanden sich eine Druckerei und Versammlungsräume; außerdem gibt es zwei niedrige Seitenflügel. Der Komplex befindet sich heute im Besitz der Gewerkschaft ver.di. Er ist als Baudenkmal gelistet.
English: Former trade union building of the German book printers at Dudenstraße No. 10 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The complex was built from 1924 to 1926 to designs by Max Taut, Franz Hoffmann, and Karl Bernhard in the New Objectivity architectural style; the interior was altered in 1951 by Max Taut. In addition to apartments and shops, the front building originally housed the offices of the trade union; a printing shop and assembly rooms were located in the rear building; there are also two smaller side wings. The complex is now owned by the trade union ver.di. It has been designated a historical landmark.
