Description
English: Bere Mill, Whitchurch See also 72025. The Mill was built in 1710 as a corn mill but in 1712 Henri de Portal began making paper there, taking advantage of the clear water of the River Test. In 1724 he was awarded a contract to supply watermarked paper to the Bank of England. (Note: This building was severely damaged by fire in February 2018.)
