Bahasa Indonesia: Tradisi Ngarot adalah upacara adat yang terdapat di Desa Lelea, Kecamatan Lelea, Jawa Barat. Tradisi ini memiliki arti ucapan syukur terhadap datangnya musim tanam. Upacara ini biasanya dilaksanakan pada minggu ketiga bulan November atau Desember dan selalu pada hari Rabu. Hal ini dilakukan karena hari Rabu dianggap keramat dan hari yang baik untuk menanam padi.
Maksud dari tradisi Ngarot ini adalah mengajak pemuda-pemudi untuk saling bekerja sama dalam bertani, khususnya mengolah sawah. Selain itu, tradisi Ngarot ini bertujuan untuk membina pergaulan yang sehat, agar saling mengenal, saling menyesuaikan sikap, kehendak, tingkah laku yang sesuai dengan adat budaya. Terkadang upacara tradisi masyarakat agraris ini juga kerap menjadi ajang cari jodoh di kampung tersebut
English: The Ngarot tradition is a traditional ceremony in Lelea Village, Lelea District, West Java. This tradition has the meaning of giving thanks for the coming of the planting season. This ceremony is usually held on the third week of November or December and always on Wednesday. This is done because Wednesday is considered sacred and a good day to plant rice.
The purpose of this Ngarot tradition is to invite young people to work together in farming, especially cultivating rice fields. In addition, this Ngarot tradition aims to foster healthy relationships, so that they get to know each other, adjust their attitudes, desires, behavior in accordance with cultural customs. Sometimes the traditional ceremony of this agrarian society is also often a place to find a mate in the village |
