« Benjamin Gervais, Sr. First settler and founder of Saint Paul. Gave land for the first Catholic church. Saint Paul was the patron saint of the first priest, Father Galtier,thus the name Saint Paul. Founded Little Canada and Lake Gervais is named for him. Original church and first communion in Little Canada was held in the Gervais home, where the priest, Father Fayolle, was staying. Was appointed and elected County Commissioner. Owned first flour mill in area.
