English: The xingxing (猩猩; Japanese: shōjō), sometimes identified as an orangutan (an extinct species or subspecies native to Chinese mainland), from Tōchū kokuyaku honzō kōmoku vol. 12, translated by Shinkai Suzuki (1931), p. 449. Facsimiles of woodcuts originally from Bencao Gagnmu (1603).
