Summary
[edit]DescriptionBelle Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky (48431882616).jpg |
The Belle Louisville is docked on the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky, at sunset. This steamboat was first launched in 1914 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The boat has gone through several name changes, first being called the Idlewild and renamed the Avalon in 1948. In 1962, the boat was purchased by Jefferson County Judge-Executive Marlow Cool and renamed the Belle of Louisville. Today, it offers visitors the opportunity to step back in time and experience a part of Kentucky history. The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant is committed to safely destroying chemical weapons while protecting nearby communities, their historic sites and the environment.
