Plant First Aiders These men are taking the basic course of keeping the materials sterile, andof avoiding the possibilities of infec-tion in case of v/ounds. As a means of helping to make firstaid a part of the regular plant job, aconsiderable portion of the first aidtextbook has been condensed for in-clusion in the Bell System Practices—which are the instructions for con-structing and maintaining the tele-phone plant. This condensed infor-mation is provided in handbook sizefor outside plant forces and in largersize for central office plant forces. Inthis way the first aid text in con-densed form is available on the jobfor review purposes by individual em-ployees, as well as by foremen fortraining in the fundamentals of firstaid new men who havent yet had anopportunity to take the standard firstaid course.
