A com-pany dormitory is occupied by25 girls out of a total force of 54 Operators Away from Home cies, and the traditions and spirit ofthe service. When a person acceptsemployment in a small store or officeto work along with one or two otherpeople, not much is involved in thismatter of induction. But when somany new telephone employees arebeing added in so many differentplaces, large and small, a real prob-lem is presented. Comprehensive induction planshave been developed. One of the car-dinal principles in these procedures isconsiderate treatment of the new em-ployee as an individual, beginning notwhen she reports for work but in theemployment office. This is one of thereasons why so many of the new em-ployees, and the older ones too, saythat they like to work for the tele- phone company.
