Telephonists Positions This is where wardens incident reports are received. By removing the bells from thebell boxes, the clappers become visual signals, while use of the head receivers leaves both hands free for example, are assigned for duty onblocks on which they live or work. Third, schedules are being estab-lished so that each volunteer knowsthe specific hours and days when heis committed to be on call, andsomeone is on call to cover all im-portant posts round the clock. Forexample, a volunteer fireman who isscheduled to be on call Mondays,Wednesdays, and Fridays betweenmidnight and 8:00 a.m. would ar-range his affairs so that he would al-ways be available for duty duringthose periods if needed. This arrange-ment, of course, causes some readjust-ments on the part of volunteers, just as is the case when a woman agreesto work at Red Cross headquartersevery Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to6:00 P.M.
