Pre-ventive measures are continually being developed and appliedto the cable plant to aid this work. Interesting in this con-nection is the application of continuous gas pressure and asso-ciated alarm gages for the detection of cable sheath failures. Other measures have been taken to minimize maintenancetroubles on the toll cables.
