Telephone order business compared favorably with counterbusiness. Delivery costs, of course, were higher, since alltelephone orders must be delivered whereas this was found tobe true of only about forty per cent of the counter orders.This, however, was offset by other cost factors more favorableto telephone business, as for example, sales cost. It was theopinion of the study group, therefore, that telephone orderbusiness is sufficiently profitable to justify its aggressive pro-motion.
