Canadawas second with 221.5 conversations per capita, andNew Zealand third with 178.9. Although the Scandi-navian countries of Denmark (136.8), Sweden (114.6),and Norway (76.2) were considerably below the UnitedStates as regards telephone usage, they were well aheadof the other European countries in this respect. Thus,in Germany telephone conversations per capita wereonly 35.5 during 1927, while the corresponding figuresfor Great Britain and France were 28.6 and 17.2, re-spectively.
