Description

c/n 45658 Built 1981 This was the first helicopter to fly around the world. The flight began in Fort Worth, Texas, on 1st September 1982 and returned there 29 days 3 hours and 8 minutes later having visited 26 countries. The journey took 246.5 flight hours at an average ground speed of 117mph. The “Spirit of Texas” was donated to the Smithsonian Institute in 1984 and is seen on display at the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center as part of the National Air and Space Museum. Washington Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, Virginia
