From one great rock (that caught the Dunbrody) to another which anchors Belfast Castle. With thanks to all our contributors below, we've learned a little more about the 19th century design and construction of Belfast Castle - and had our interest piqued by the left-field reference which Sharon notes in the Dictionary of Irish Architects: Name [architect]: LANYON, LYNN & LANYON Building: CO. ANTRIM, BELFAST, BELFAST CASTLE Date: 1868-70 Nature: New Scottish Baronial house on slope of Cave Hill by John Lanyon, for Marquess of Donegall. Faced with Cookstown stone with white Scottish stone dressings. Name [architect]: SEAVER, HENRY Building: CO.
