Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hall of Middle Harmony. Forbidden City, Beijing

This small square building is located between the Hall of Supreme Harmony (south) and the Hall of Preserving Harmony (north), on the elevated platform of the Outer Court. It was used as a staging area during the emperor's ceremonial progression from north to south, where he could stop to take refreshment and prepare for his grand entrance into the main hall. A similar staging area is used at the Temple of Heaven.

The building behind the green fence (2006) is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, as it was being renovated in advance of the Beijing Olympics (2008).
