Beer track

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Beer track This is a very old path, named "beer track" in Welsh, possibly because beer made in Llanthony Priory was carried this way to people in the nearby valleys. The website ewyaslacy.org.uk has plenty of historical info on this path and the area.

In the distance is a party of young hikers from Kent, out for a camping trip, led by staff of the Longtown Outdoor Education Centre. In the middle distance on the left is the end of an area where Natural England has been destroying bracken to create a grassy pasture where foxgloves are growing profusely where few were seen in previous years.

On the right is a field with a very old wall and a pair of big trees; an ash and a sycamore. I guess the latter was deliberately planted for it's a useful timber tree.
