Description

De locomotiefserie 500/600 kende bijnamen als 'Bakkie' of 'Hippel'. De locomotieven hadden slechts een locomotiefrem, wat bij zwaardere treinen nogal eens problemen opleverde bij het remmen. Alleen de locomotief kon geremd worden, de wagens erachter niet. Vanaf de 571 werden de locomotieven dan ook uitgerust met een compressor en een treinrem. De locomotieven met deze reminstallatie werden nog voor de aflevering en indienststelling omgenummerd naar de 600-serie. Later zijn nog eens 25 locomotieven voorzien van deze reminrichting, zodat de serie 600 uiteindelijk uit 65 exemplaren bestond. De 500-serie kwam daarmee uit op 45 exemplaren.

The locomotives had only a locomotiefrem, what with heavier trains often has caused you any trouble when braking. Only the locomotive could be inhibited, not behind the cars. From the 571 locomotives equipped with a compressor and a treinrem. The locomotives were still with this braking test for the episode and placing in renumbered to the 600-series. Later a further 25 locomotives equipped with this braking system, so that the series 600 eventually from 65 copies existed. The 500 series was out 45 copies.
