Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Beech stump Remains of one of the magnificent beech trees on Shipley Hill, part of Shipley Country Park. These trees are over 200 years old and are coming to the end of their life. Many have succumbed to disease, often caused by fungi, and have become unsafe, and so regrettably have had to be felled. See 277771 for further information. Various types of fungi can be seen in the picture. At bottom right is sulphur tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare). Can anyone ID the others? Update: Thanks to Trevor Rickard for identifying the wavy fungi on the side of the stump as chondrostereum purpureum.
