Summary
[edit]DescriptionNeobulgaria pura - geograph.org.uk - 998445.jpg |
English: Beech Jellydisc Fungus (Neobulgaria pura). These are the young fruiting bodies of Beech Jellydisc Fungus growing in sunlight on a large moss-covered fallen branch. This photo, taken at close range, shows a narrow opening at the top of each globe; these openings will later expand into discs. From a distance, these fruiting bodies resembled tiny eyeballs.
For more information on this species, and an image of a larger group (photographed at the same site on the following day), see: 998437. |
