lo cts. per pkt. AMf?RANTh;US. Amaranthns. ECHEVERI^q SECUNDfl GL^UCA. Pretty succulent plants, with thick, rounded leaves, forming small, perfect light-green rosettes. They are much used in carpet bedding. 25 cts. per pkt. EUPHORBIA. (Paiated Leaf: Snow-on-tlie-Moniitain.) Euphorbia heterophylla. Glossy green leaves, forming large bracts on the ends of the branches, changing in midsummer to brilliant scarlet. 10 cts. per pkt. E. variegata. (Snow-on-the-Mountain.) A hardy annual of robust growth, with fine green leaves striped with white. 5 cts. per pkt. GLAUCIUm LUTEUM. A handsome hardy perennial, with silvery white foliage and yellow flowers. It is very use- ful for ribbon beds and massing. 5 cts. per pkt. PERILLfl NflNKlNENSIS. A beautiful plant; leaves rich, dark purple : fringed. Contrasts finely with silver-leaved fo- liage plants. A half-hardy annual. 5c. per pkt. Tall-growing plants, with showy leaves, variegated with many shades of red, yellow and green, and long racemes of curious flowers. In rich soils the plants grow taller than in poor ones, but their variegation is not so bright. Amaranthus caudatus. (Love-Lies Bleeding). Three feet tall; blood-red. 5 cts. per pkt. A. criieiitus. The well-known Prince's Feather. 5 cts. per pkt. A. Headeri. Of beautiful habit; brown, dark red and bronze. 5 cts. per pkt. A. iiobilis pyramidalis. 5 cts. per pkt. A. tricolor. (Joseph's Coat.) Leaves a beautiful mosaic of colors. 5c. per pkt CENTflUREA. (Dust)' ISIiller.) The silver-leaved varieties of Centaurea are indispensable or ribbon beds and borders, their soft, neutral tints of greyish green being very, effectual in toning down and harmonizing contrasts in more brilliant leaves which otherwise might seem crude and harsh. Centaurea argentea vera. (Candidissima.) Leaves broader and whiter than in any other silver-leaved sort. 10 cts. per pkt. C. gyinnocarpa. Of very graceful growth ; a fine variety. 10 cts. per pkt. COLEUS. For brilliant color effects we have nothing finer than the Coleus, so long used, well adapted, and universally admired for such purposes. The leaves are of many shapes and bright colors, and nearly all varieties have a rich, velvety ap- pearance. Seed sown in March or April will produce fine plants for bedding. Our mix- ture is a fine one, and will give plants of many of the best named sorts. 25c. per pkt. CINERflRlfl MflRITlMfl CflNDIDISSIMA. Another fine silver-leaved plant, used like the above, in ribbon bedding, vases, etc. The leaves are silvery white; flowers yellow. 5 cts. per pkt.

Coleus. PYRETHRUM AUREUffl. (Golden Feather.) Golden yellow foliage, finely cut, produc rich, soft effects in bedding; hardy annual cts. per pkt. WIGANDIfl CfqRflCASANA. The leaves of this plant, 6 feet long and more than a foot wide, are effective in subtropical bed- ding. It is a half-hardy perennial. 10 cts. per pkt. RICINUS. (Castor-Oil Bean.) Plants of stately growth, with fine fruits and leaves. Ricinus Borboniensis arboreus. Grows 15 feet; leaves enormous. 5 cts.per pkt. R. Cambodgeusis. Red-black stems ; very dark leaves ; very distinct. 5 cts. per pkt. R. Gibsoni. (Duchess of Edinburgh,) Dark purple leaves and stems, sets, perpkt. R. Zanzibarensis. An entirely new and distinct class. The plants attain great dimensions, presenting a splendid aspect with their gigantic leaves. Seeds also very distmct, very large and of exquisite tints. Seed mixed of the 4 sorts, loc. pkt. R. — maculatus. Coppery bronze, leaves changing to a dark green ; reddish ribs. R. — cinerascens. Brownish purple, leaves changing into dark green ; light ribs. R. — nlger. Foliage bronze, passing into dark green ; reddish ribs. « 60 *
