Description
English: Lt. Paul W. Beck (1876-1922) sits next to pilot Phillip Parmelee, in a Wright Model B biplane before taking off for a demonstration of wireless communication between an airplane in flight and a ground operator, January 1911, Tanforan. Beck, at left, holds a radio transmitter labeled "Type A-4 Aeroplane Wireless Telegraph Set. Designed By Western Wireless Equipment Co." The airplane was outfitted with radio equipment by Earle Ennis. This image was used in an article by Earle Ennis for Journal of Electricity Power and Gas, Volume XXVI, Number 13 (April 1, 1911). Photographs from Fred Roebuck's collection, "to be held for the archives of College radio museum, by Mrs. Robert A. Morgan who may use them as needed for publicaton or duplication. September 1966."
