Title
English: Beaux Arts sculpture class, 1911
Description
English: In 1908, Seattle's Western Academy of the Beaux Arts bought land south of Bellevue. Members wanted to build a community where artists and craftspeople could live, work, and play together. They called their new settlement Beaux Arts Village. Part of the land was set aside for workshops and studios.

This 1911 photo shows a Beaux Arts sculpture class. Several of the women wear long smocks to keep plaster off their clothing. Electric bulbs with large metal reflectors shine light on the artists' work.
