nning, wegot an extension secretary to care for our workinggirls. Now they have a fine gymnasium, a swim-ming pool, and a bigger dormitory. Miss Foster had refused many calls to a largerfield, making a sacrifice for the purpose of workingout her ideas about the working girls. At last sheaccepted one of the calls, and we lost her. How soundlythey slept, with the starlight sifting through thelaced branches, the sound of sleepy birds and drowsyinsects, and the leaves whispering sh-sh — sleepand rest! The girls took a new lease on health, and a larger, firmer hold on life. We came closer to them, so asto enter into their spiritual life, in twilight walksdown country lanes, or talks about the embers of ourcamp fire. One striking thing about the camp life was theway it obliterated all lines of caste. We, who neverthought about such things, had been surprised tofind how real it was to some of the girls.
