| Description |
English: Beaulieu River at Longwater Lawn, New Forest The Beaulieu River meanders its way across this shallow heathland valley, only a few miles from its source near Lyndhurst. Here a pair of alder trees are reflected in a bend in the river, while ponies graze on the adjacent lawn. The heathland is characterised by its poor acidic soils - the lawn either side of the river is kept more fertile by the sediment deposits that are left after the winter floods subside. |
