Description |
English: Incomplete flint barbed and tanged arrowhead, arrow-shaped in plan and lozenge-shaped in profile and section. The tip of the one of the barbs is missing, possibly having been broken off during use. Even complete, the two barbs would not have extended beyond the end of the tang. The arrowhead is bifacially worked throughout on the dorsal face and on the right and left margins of the ventral face.
The flint is a dark grey-brown colour, and slightly translucent. There is a small area of cortex over the medial area of the dorsal face. The length to breadth ratio is almost 1:1.
Bond (2004) illustrates similar examples on page 125, Fig.5.110, Sutton Type Bj, and on page 147, Fig.5.133, No.F177, which are dated to the Beaker period. |
