Title

Français : Plage sur la péninsule de roche le long de chenal Dean, C.-B.
Description
English: Looking about eastward at the rock peninsula on the east side of Elcho (Alice) harbour, Dean Channel, B.C. This is possibly the site of the village from which Alexander Mackenzie turned back. There is at least eighteen inches of village accumulation. Not having tools, deeper test was not made. To the left is a beach. These are rare in this vicinity. Just below high tide on the left or northern end of this beach is a boulder bearing petroglyph. In the middle of this beach amongst the driftwwod is another boulder bearing a petroglyph. Locals say there was a village on the peninsula protected by a wall of logs, and the people shut the gate at night; also another village on the mainland to the right.
