English: Beach at Slaughden. Various sea defences can be seen in this photo: the groyne inhibits longshore drift of the shingle; the large rocks are designed to limit the force of the waves; and the high concrete sea wall is the final barrier. Beyond the wall, to the left, is a narrow shingle spit which separates the sea from the River Alde. The Martello tower 762648 can be seen in the background. |
