PAGE - VI NZMR markings- maker's name and date; 5 - 97 - War Department marks- broad arrow and WD; Sheffield viewmarks- (crown) - S - 25 - X (bend mark.)

Notes British Pattern 1888 Mk I bayonet for Lee Metford with leather scabbard carved by Sergt JR Page, 16 Coy, 6NZMR, Anglo Boer War Received with collections associated with James Madill, who also served with 16 Coy, 6NZMR description- carved grip- SERGT. PAGE - VI NZMR Note- the only Page enlisted with 6NZMR was John Robert Page, 16 Coy, a "bushfeller" from the Hokianga who received clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, and SA01 and SA02. He later served in WW1. JR Page died in Auckland in 1944. See D George p93
