English: Map of the May 5 positions of BG James H. Wilson’s 3rd Cavalry Division in the Battle of the Battle of the Wilderness of the American Civil War. John Hammond’s 5th New York was detached from the 1st Brigade on the Orange Plank Road. Col. Timothy M. Bryan’s 1st Brigade had the rear on the advance and retreat. Col. George H. Chapman’s 2nd Brigade led in the advance and retreat.
