"Although Gardner claimed credit for this view in his "Sketch Book," the original catalogue issued only two months following the battle identified the cameraman as O'Sullivan."; No. 942.; Clipping from Confederate veterans, v. 33 (glued to back of mount) identifies soldier as Andrew Johnston Hoge, while Hoge did die at Gettysburg, he was not killed near Devil's Den.
