Description The Bastei is a famous landmark in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Germany. Situated not far to the southeast of Dresden, it has been a tourist attraction for over 200 years and the rock formations have inspired, among others, the German romantic landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich. The sandstone bridge was constructed in the year 1851 C.E.
