| Description |
English: This libellus of John the Evangelist from the Gnadental Convent of the Poor Clares was completed in 1493. The manuscript contains texts by and about John the Evangelist, among them exempla, sermons, sequences, lections, and the Revelation in German. A pictorial cycle with scenes from the legend of the Evangelist decorates the vita of John at the beginning of the manuscript.
Deutsch: Der Johannes-Libellus aus dem Basler Klarissenkloster Gnadental wurde 1493 fertiggestellt. Die Handschrift enthält Texte von und über Johannes den Evangelisten, darunter Exempla, Predigten, Sequenzen, Lektionen und die Offenbarung in deutscher Sprache. Die Johannes-Vita am Anfang der Handschrift ist mit einem reichen Bilderzyklus mit Szenen aus der Legende des Evangelisten versehen.
Français : Le libellus de Jean l’Evangéliste, provenant du monastère des clarisses de Gnadental, fut achevé en 1493. Le manuscrit contient des textes de et sur Jean l’Evangéliste, parmi lesquels des exempla, des sermons, des séquences, des leçons et l'Apocalypse en allemand. Au début du manuscrit, la vie de Jean est ornée d’un riche cycle iconographique avec des scènes de la vie de l’évangéliste.
