Base sherd from a Dressel 31 type samian bowl
Description
English: A base sherd from a Roman samian pottery vessel. The sherd originates from a Dressel 31 type bowl of early to middle second century AD date. It consists of part of the ring foot of the vessel and a small area of the base. The sides are missing and the edges are abraded. The fabric is a light pinkish-orange colour and the slip is deep reddish-brown. The sherd measures 29.5mm long by 16.4mm high and weighs 5.98g.
