English: Basantapur is located near Durbar Square in Hanumandhoka, a historical area of Kathmandu. The Gaddi Baitak, a nine-storey palace and other buildings in the premises of this Basantapur i.e. Hanumandhoka were in an ugly condition due to the 2072 B S earthquake. Basantapur is a favorite place of foreign and domestic tourists. Recently, the reconstruction work of the palaces in the Basantapur Durbar area has been almost completed, which has again made Basantapur full of beauty. There are plenty of historical sites in this area. Due to which it is a major attraction for foreign tourists. The historical palaces, monasteries, temples, pavilions and stone fountains in the Hanumandhoka premises are of a very artistic style. Foreign tourists from different countries come to Kathmandu to see this art. Basantapur of Hanumandhoka is also a place of pleasure for indigenous tourists.
