[edit]DescriptionBarung barong moro sword parts.jpg |
English: Parts of a Moro (Philippine Muslim) barung or barong.
The terms are Tausug (Sulu dialect), and the terms came from the Tausug-English Dictionary by Irene Hassan, et al. (Summer Institute of Linguistics, 1994). The barung sample above has the following dimensions -- overall length: 562 mm (22.1 inches); blade length: 410 mm (16.1 inches); and maximum blade thickness: 7 mm (1/4 inches). The blade's steel lamination patterns can clearly be seen. Other uploaded materials by the same author are here: (a) Luzon weapons; (b) Visayan weapons; (c) Moro weapons; and (d) Lumad (non-Moro Mindanao) weapons |
