Summary
[edit]DescriptionBarrow Hill roundhouse - geograph.org.uk - 1350312.jpg |
English: Barrow Hill roundhouse This is the last working roundhouse in Britain being rescued from demolition in the 1990's. It was roofless and overgrown, the council provided £1 million for restoration and now it brings in Enthusiasts from all over the country.
The 'working' part is the railway maintenance business that the depot provides, giving jobs to the area. A perfect mix of heritage and modern day uses. On the right is A2 Blue peter, arrived here because the Darlington station museum it usually lives in was under refurbishment. Taken in 2007 summer months. |
