Description
Français : Le barrage de Barberine a été construit de 1920 à 1925 par les CFF (Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses) lorsque le réseau a été électrifié à la fin de la première guerre mondiale pour garantir l'indépendance du pays, le charbon pour les trains à vapeur devant être importé (d'Allemagne en particulier). Ce barrage a fermé le verrou de la haute vallée de Barberine, en amont du plateau d'Émosson. Il produisait avec ses deux centrales électriques du courant à la fréquence ferroviaire nord-européenne de 16 ⅔ Hz, correspondant aux besoins des CFF pour toute la Suisse romande. Il est de type poids, d'une hauteur de 79 mètres et son volume d'eau est de 40 millions de m³.
