In einem Gefecht mit den Türken hatte Münchhausen an vorderster Stelle gekämpft und den Feind bis auf den Marktplatz eines Städtchens verfolgt. Sein Pferd eilte dem Brunnen zu und trank unmäßig viel. Als er umschaute, bemerkte er, daß im Gefecht seinem Tier das ganze Hinterteil abgeschnitten war, und das Wasser hinten wieder herauslief. Draußen vor der Stadt aber fand er die andere Hälfte des Wunderpferdes und ein Kurschmied heftete das Tier wieder zusammen. = Baron Münchhausen's Adventures. 6. In a skirmish with the Turks, Münchhausen fought at the forefront and pursued the enemy to the market square of a small town. His horse rushed to the fountain and drank excessively. When the Baron looked around, he noticed that his animal's rear end had been shot off in battle, and the water was running out at its hindquarters.
