English: Coat of Arms of w:Baron Heathfield . N.B. INCORRECT TINCTURES. Should be Gules, on a bend or a baton azure on a chief azure the fortress of Gibraltar under it Plus Ultra as augmentation.(Per Genealogy of the Eliot Family, originally compiled by William Horace Eliot, revised and enlarged by William Smith Porter, Newhaven, Conneticut, 1854 [1]. These are the arms of the Eliott Baronets of Stobs, (Debrett's Peerage & Baronetage, 1968, p.279) with augmentation for George Augustus Eliott, the 1st Baron Heathfield and youngest son of the 3rd Baronet. This erroneous depiction, possibly added by later watercolourist, shows the field purple and baton and chief vert. |
