| Description |
English: Barking station, 19 July 2019. Built by British Railways (Eastern Region) and London Transport (Underground) in 1959-61; the architects were A J Fragg and John Ward. Rather surprisingly, the design was based on the Second Stazione Termini at Rome (1950)! The roof has canted cantilevered concrete beams to support a 'folded plate' roof with a deep fascia facing the road. Window framing is minimal. Kiosk units facing the street extend into the concourse and serve that too. |
