Summary

[edit]
Description Original caption: "
...drowning we had just missed. Fifty yards below us the whole river – 1 ½ miles in width – suddenly shot over a rock ledge – a sheer drop of 15 feet. Our frail Canoe could never have navigated it. The water boiled in great seething whirls and jagged rocks poked out where ever one looked. Even a great big heavily timbered 60 foot long scow was wrecked, trying to come down. What chance would we have had? We began unloading our outfit, hating to mention what we both knew perfectly well, that we were stuck.
