Summary
[edit]DescriptionBarcelona and southern environs.jpg |
English: We are looking northeast, from a height of approx 12,000 feet (3650 metres). At top left is part of the city of Barcelona, including its port area. The darker area near the port is the historic hill of Montjuïc, which is believed to be the birthplace of the city.
Centre right is Barcelona's airport, named after the nearest town - "El Prat". From the airport south-westwards there are many kilometres/miles of popular beaches. Behind the beaches are trees, with houses in between (except near the airport, where there are nature reserves.) Clearly seen at the bottom of the picture is a long narrow waterway, close to the town of Castelldefels, which was constructed for the 1992 Olympics as a venue for canoe sprint events. |
