English: 349,865 of Contra Costa County, CA citizens are speakers of a non-English language, which is higher than the national average of 21.5%. In 2015, the most common non-English language spoken in Contra Costa County, CA was Spanish. 16.1% of the overall population of Contra Costa County, CA are native Spanish speakers. 2.9% speak Chinese and 2.86% speak Tagalog, the next two most common languages. When compared to other counties, Contra Costa County, CA has a relatively high number of residents that are native Persian speakers. In 2015, there were 10,889 native Persian speakers living in Contra Costa County, CA, approximately 7.78 times more than would be expected based on the language's frequency in the US more broadly.
