Description
English: Palace of the governor of Banquibazar, the Ostend Company's factory in Bengal in the 1720s. When the Ostend Company was suspended in 1731, Banquibazar passed under the direct authority of Emperor Charles VI, ruler of the Austrian Netherlands. The double-headed imperial eagle, which topped the coat of arms of the Ostend Company, can be seen over the arched doorway. Anonymous contemporary drawing.
Français : Palais du gouverneur à Banquibazar, la loge que possédait la compagnie d'Ostende au Bengale. Lorsque la compagnie d'Ostende fut dissoute en 1731, la loge passa sous l'autorité directe de l'empereur Charles VI, souverain des Pays-Bas autrichiens. On distigue au-dessus de l'arche d'entrée du palais l'aigle bicéphale impérial qui figurait sur les armoiries de la compagnie d'Ostende. Dessin anonyme d'époque.
