Summary
[edit]DescriptionBanking Butterfly.jpg |
Unlike the monarch I photographed in the wild here in the valley, this butterfly is a captive at the Mariposario del Drago - butterfly farm and zoo - in Icod de los Vinos, near the famous Dragon Tree. Opened in 1997, it was the first centre in Spain dedicated exclusively to butterflies. This was an accidental visit. We had intended to view the silver in the San Marcos church, but following typical Canarian logic (so shoot me), the church was closed. It was a Sunday. :) My friend was wearing red that day, but her husband quickly dispelled her fears, exclaiming "They're butterflies, not bulls!" So yes, as soon as she was inside the door, a HUGE butterfly landed on her posterior! Butterfly)&t=h See where this picture was taken. [?] |
