The shot is of The Spotted Dog pub with the Nationsbank building in the background taken from the area where buses park at North Avenue Marta station in Midtown Atlanta. This is my second Photoshop project where I'm practicing what I learned in a recent Atlanta Photography meetup. After over a decade of never being able to 'get' Photoshop and to think in its terms, I spent an hour at a demo at the Atlanta Photography Meetup and I finally get it, sort of. I wanted to make the brick building bright red, the skyscraper ominous black and white, the sky bright blue, and the clouds still visible. It took five layers to make it work and the only thing I wish I could have done differently was to make the clouds more visible w/o making them look fake. I could have also made the sky deeper blue and the bricks deeper red, but I'm mostly happy with them. Anyway, here's the results. The original cropped version is available in the same 'Atlanta Buildings' set. Note how I cropped it so that the lines of the two buildings meet the bottom two corners. |
