This bandolier, similar to the regulation 'Bandolier, 50 rounds, 1897', was used by a member of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles. leather bandolier; six groups of ten tubes for cartridges, each secured with flap with two leather straps that fasten to brass studs attached to belt; belt fastens with brass buckle with two prongs; brass loop near centre of belt (for attached a narrow strap to the waist belt) |

Notes | Bandolier, that belonged to L-Cpl Alfred S Clarke, 16 Company, 6 New Zealand Mounted Rifles, Anglo Boer War. Lance-Cpl Alfred Samuel Clark, 16th Coy, 6 New Zealand Mounted Rifles Alfred Clarke was born in 1870. He lived in Auckland and on enlistment recorded his occupation as miner. He was awarded the Queens South Africa Medal with clasps for actions at Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal and also received the SA 1901 and SA 1902 clasps. He also received the Coronation Contingent Medal 1902. Alfred S Clarke died on 4 April 1960 and is buried at the Purewa Cemetery, Auckland. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
