English: Lithuania’s flag. Fabric. Brazil, 1969. Donor: Jenny Marcinkievicius Bumbles. Collection of the Immigration Museum of São Paulo. This miniature of the Lithuanian flag may be understood as a symbol of this country’s pro-freedom movement, in relation to the Soviet Union, which was disseminated by the Lithuanian migrants and their descendants around the world through numerous places, including Brazil. The colors have a meaning of their own. In one of the interpretations, the yellow stands for gold; the green, forest; and the red, for blood spilt in war. In another one, the yellow might stand for faith; the green, hope; and the red, charity. |
